WhatsApp has rolled out 2-step authentication (Verification) feature that now brings more security to the phone number associated with your WhatsApp account. It is now more difficult for someone to hack into your whatsapp account once you activate this new feature.
The two step Authentication has been well documented for sometime now but it's finally here as we have WhatsApp 2-factor authentication. This new features has gone live on the latest beta version of whatsapp (2.16.341 and above, maybe even earlier).
HOW TO SETUP & ACTIVATE WHATSAPP 2 STEP AUTHENTICATION
✔ First of all, update your whatsapp with the latest version from Playstore
✔ Go to account settings in WhatsApp, you'll see a new Two-step verification option.
✔ Tap it to get to a screen that explains what 2-step verification is and get the option to enable it.
✔ Then enter a 6-digit passcode that you'll be asked for each time you try to register your phone number with WhatsApp, and confirm it.
✔ You'll also need to provide an email address that'll be used to reset your passcode/password in case you forget it.
Once you have successfully done this, the 2 step authentication will be activated on your number and no other person can activate whatsapp with that same number except he or she has your passcode or the login details of the email address you provided.
Additionally, WhatsApp also rolled out another feature that enables you to play audio files in the background. What this means is that you no longer need to stay glued to a particular conversation just because you are listening to the audio message or music 🎶 sent to you by a friend in private chat or group chat.
This is why WhatsApp is absolutely the best IM platform at the moment - always pushing out interesting updates to make the platform more fun and useful. So many people have uninstalled BBM already because whatsapp is just okay and serves well.
